This SPLAT Fluency Game is a great way to practice sentence fluency without the typical small group readings. It involves some skill, and some luck, too! This game is a great way for partners at varying levels (or similar levels) to get together and read. Or rather, it can be played as an independent game.
Either way you roll it, students get what they need, which is practicing fluency at all phonics skill levels – with a ton of fun!
HOW TO USE:
1. Print out one gameboard per pair of partners and grab some game pieces and a die.
2. Students will roll the die and move that number of spaces on the board.
3. They will land on a sentence. They will read the sentence out loud.
4. If they land on a SPLAT! space, the player has to go back to the START.
5. Players take turns rolling and reading.
6. First player to the END wins!
