WHY WE LOVE IT
When it comes to CVCe skills, students often struggle. The concept is difficult because most students are conditioned to think all vowel sounds are short. This means that we have to pay a little extra attention to this skill to ensure students have a solid understanding.
We also know that building fluency is critical. These blending lines ensure that students have ample practice. You will find three levels for each vowel. The vowel has been excluded from these activities due to the frequency of words following the CVCe pattern.
HOW TO USE
You may choose to laminate each page for future use or simply print one sheet out per student.
Read through the blending lines once choral reading. Show students how to track from left to right sounding out the words as they go.
Then, ask students to practice reading several times independently or with a partner. Students can color one star for each time they read the sheet all the way through.
