Magazine Letter Hunt

This letter recognition activity for kindergarten is crucial for letter fluency. Students need lots and lots of practice when it comes to letter recognition and sounds. It's not enough to teach it once and forget about it.

Research shows that one of the best predictors of reading achievement from early kindergarten to second grade is letter name knowledge. This is why letter recognition and letter sound intervention and prevention are key.

This independent activity encourages students to practice their letter sound knowledge while exploring magazines and finding matching letters. Each sheet includes one letter/sound to practice. Students cut, sort and glue the matching letters or pictures with the same beginning sound onto the letter
